Bulk deals and block deals
A bulk deal is a trade where one client buys or sells more than 0.5% of a company's shares in a day through the normal market. A block deal is a single large trade, above a minimum size set by SEBI, done in a special trading window. NSE publishes both after the session, with the client's name.
- They show who traded large quantities on that day, but not why, or what the client held before or after.
- The same entity often buys and sells on the same day or soon after; check both sides.
- A deal by a well-known investor is information, not a reason by itself to buy or sell.
